Looking For Parents To Adopt My Baby

These are 6 easy steps if you are looking for parents to adopt your baby

If want to find a family to adopt your baby, here are the steps.  It can go as quickly or as slowly as you need:

  1. Decide what qualities you want in the adoptive parents
  2. Be clear on whether there are family types that you aren’t open to
  3. Look through the photo profiles of families that I send to you
  4. Decide which family, or two, feel like the best fit
  5. Have a phone call with the parents you choose and get to know them better, if you wish
  6. Finally, meet with the parents, if you want, to confirm they feel like a fit

As an adoption attorney and a birth mother, I will help you choose adoptive parents that will love your baby as much as you do. I guarantee that the wonderful, loving family you choose to adopt your baby are:

  • Couples I’ve met with and know personally
  • Fully educated on adoption
  • Background checked and fingerprinted
  • Pre-approved to adopt a baby of any race or gender
  • Ready to honor the type of adoption you want, open or closed

Most important, I only work with couples I would feel comfortable placing my own child with.

Once you find a family you feel comfortable with, I will work with you through every step of the adoption process to place your baby with the adoptive family. If you are looking for parents to adopt your baby, it doesn’t matter where you live. I work with birth parents all over the United States on private adoptions .

As you go through these steps, you can ask me as many questions as you want!  Many times one family just jumps out at you.  Some women need more time to process and deliberate.  I always encourage women to trust their instincts.

Follow your heart and trust your instincts when looking for parents to adopt your baby

When you set out to find a family to adopt your baby, you really have to follow your heart and trust your instincts. Some women know immediately by just looking at photos and profiles of prospective parents. On the other hand, some need to take more time to talk and get to know the adoptive parents.

Prospective adoptive parents come in all shapes and sizes. Religious practices are really important to some women. On the other hand, some women want a couple who are really active, or artistic or homebodies.

I always recommend that you keep your heart and mind open to possibilities. Sometimes the perfect couple isn’t what you imagined at all. Also, trust your instincts as you are choosing an adoptive family.

Open or closed adoption (what is open adoption?)

All of the families I work with will honor whatever type of adoption you want, open or closed.  This is a good time to think about what type of adoption you want, if you haven’t already.

  • Do you want an open adoption where you have contact with the parents and your baby?
  • Or do you want a closed adoption, where you have limited or no contact with the parents and your baby?

I am an adoption attorney and a birth mother, and I have a lot of experience with an open and closed adoption. You can ask me as many questions as you need in order to decide what works best for you.

You don’t have to know exactly what type of adoption you want when you start planning. Remember, you can always change your mind about the type of adoption you want as we go through the process.

Get to know the adoptive parents by asking good questions

When you are looking for parents to adopt your baby, you might feel nervous about the first phone call or meeting with the parents. Certainly, It can be helpful to have some questions ready when you talk. You can click here to see a list of potential questions. After you’ve spoken or met, ask yourself if you like and trust the adoptive parents. You can tell a lot about people in just the first few moments. Consequently, you should trust your instincts and ask yourself these questions:

  • Do you like and trust the adoptive parents?
  • What are their interests and do you share these?
  • Do you share the same values about family and kids?
  • Finally, are they loving and supportive of each other?

If you aren’t sure about the answers to these questions, think about them when you talk with them again. Keep these points in mind as you get to know them better.

Why my families choose adoption

Potential parents choose to build their families through adoption for many reasons. Some couples aren’t able to have kids biologically. On the other hand, some might have experience with adoption. For instance, maybe they have already adopted or they are adopted themselves. For these parents, adoption is something they have always felt comfortable with. However, one thing they all seem to have in common is that they want to provide a loving home to a child that needs it.

When prospective parents work with me, they learn a lot about the adoption process. I spend several hours explaining what open and closed adoption means. They ask all of their important questions and share any concerns they might have.

As we find the perfect family to adopt your baby, you can rest assured that any of the waiting families I share with you will be wonderful adoptive parents.
